Amazed by the Grace, Favour, Provision and Randomness of God

There’s a saying that “God moves in mysterious ways” and it’s one that I cannot dispute in any fashion at all.

Not only have we had the amazing BBC coverage at KingsGate, along with the complete randomness of Chris Moyles then raving about it, but there just seems to be a whole lot happening right now that just seems to come in a barrage of amazement and wonder.

So far this year I’ve seen friends experience what can only be divine provision, both financially and materially. Friends have been challenged by God and their lives shaken by things they have seen/heard. There have also been healings and answered prayers of all kinds.

Probably one of the most random experiences of the year took place only the other evening – I can’t go into too much detail at the moment but trust me, it’s sooo random it can only be God.

From a personal perspective, the year is not the most comfortable as my job is at risk and the job market is proving frustratingly silent, and we are facing other challenges as well – but with all the things we are witnessing right now we really do have a firm belief that Gods promise that “I know the plans I have for you… to give you a hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29) really is true and that whatever happens he will be our “Jehovah Jireh” , the God who provides.

Yes, there are bad days when it all seems to close in and I find that it seems impossible – but there is such a peace, a Shalom, that these days and times and few and far between!

You WILL relax and chill and take it easy

Determination.

That’s probably the one word that underlined Christmas, and the days just before and after, for me. I have never been so determined to enjoy a season as I have this Christmas. I resolved to go with the flow, not let anything upset or anger me and just enjoy myself and celebrate the festivities as much as possible.

And you know something? It worked! Shocked? I was.

There were no sharp words on Christmas day, no frayed tempers and no tension or nervous twitches – just a complete peace and relaxation, the sort I haven’t felt for a considerable time. Continue reading “You WILL relax and chill and take it easy”

‘Tis the season… a very Merry, Happy and Blessed Christmas

Apart from colds and sniffles we seem to be recovering from illness now, just need some sleep really which isn’t particularly likely at the moment – just need to hope the kids sleep in sometime (yeah right!)

Anyway – health update provided onto the main post…

Being the first Christmas for a few years where I can fully appreciate the joy and wonder of the season it’s been a fairly emotional time as once again I am reminded of the joy and wonder of this season, and once again I am aware of the grace, mercy and Love that God poured out on us when He sent Christ to be with us.

I’ve made a resolution this year to make the most of the season, to fully enjoy all that we can and to spend as much time rejoicing and growing in excitement as the Advent Calendars count the days.

29 hours… 3 events… sleep not included

Wow. Simply put… WOW! That one word sums up this weekend pretty well. Of course, another word for the weekend would be “Chaos” or maybe even “Whirlwind” – then there is “MAD”. I’m not complaining – don’t get me wrong – it was a totally stunningly awesome weekend that I 110% loved and don’t regret in any way!

We always knew the weekend was going to be a mad but I don’t think any of us fully appreciated just how much of a rush it would be. So, beginning at the beginning of the weekend as it’s probably the only way I’ll get my thoughts together, here goes an update of life with the Hartleys (and not just us 5)

>> WARNING << This blog post is HUGE! Get a cup of Coffee/Tea before reading it!

Taz couldn’t get more in a spin than us right now!!!

Life is sooooo chaotic right now – we just don’t seem to be stopping or slowing down. The other week was the British Grand Prix (still buzzing from that – although I really must get around to watching the race on the TV to catch up on the bits we missed) and we still haven’t have time to recover from that, especially as last weekend was just as busy in some ways… and yet more is to come.

Last weekend was great though – as part of the Hope 08 initiative, KingsGate put on a family fun day in Parnwell. I offered to help out on the PA side of things and, despite the occasional “shower” (well, OK, downpour) we had a really great time. Good music, great fun and a good laugh. I also had an “interview” to join the production team at the Church as I felt it was about time I started to get more involved (hey, I’ve been there since May so don’t want to get too lazy you know!) – that did mean that I needed to stay for both services on Sunday, which was quite odd, and also meant that I hardly saw my family during the weekend as our paths only crossed briefly really.

This weekend is even more chaos. Off to Nottingham tomorrow to see my family and Mrs H, me Bro and myself are then off to wonderful Stoke-On-Trent for the evening. Really looking forward to seeing bands such as RPM, thebandwithnoname, yFriday (yay!) and – not forgetting – JARS OF CLAY!!!!! 😀

I’ve been a fan since their first album way back when and Flood is still one of the all time classic songs – but never managed to see them… so Saturday evening should be stunning!

Sunday will see us going over to Trent Vineyard for their Sunday service – heard a load of good things about the Church so really quite looking forward to enjoying that… and then we’ll be rushing over to see the Hartley side of the family for an afternoon of food and fun 😀

All good. All enjoyable. But I hope I get to sleep sometime!

EXCEPT – life is just going to get busier…. announcement coming soon! (and no, Mrs H is NOT pregnant – it’s another kind of “busy” announcement!)
