coffee break bites of words, wit, and wisdom
I have to give a wry, pained, laugh when I hear people saying that we are not heading for recession and that the economy is going to bounce back quickly – although admittedly a lot of commentators seem to NOT be saying that now.
I know 4 people, all of whom are heading (or are already there) for unemployment… unskilled? nope, small companies? certainly not for 3 of them, “luxury” industries? definitely not.
Can’t you tell we’ve got a busy weekend coming up? I’ve now come down with my second dose of Tonsilitis in the past 3.5 months and, when the drugs wear off, boy do I feel rough 🙁 Plus we are just coming to the end of a 3-day time of prayer and fasting (which has been really good – but tough at times)
I’m also rather miffed as I had written 2 posts using ScribeFire which it then proceeded to lose – only posting the titles and not the content… so I *did* try posting a couple of times… and then lost the work (oh the ironies I could list about that scenario)
Anyway – life for the Hartleys is kinda up and down right now. We are all very tired and run down, and the kids are definitely ready for the summer holidays. To cap it all off I’m not well, in case you hadn’t read the first sentence 🙂
This weekend sees Mrs H, me, my Bro and Mrs H’s sister all hitting the glories of Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. My parents have got the kids, and we are all facing a weekend of sleep-when-we-get-it and early (!) mornings… with Sunday being the earliest as we will be on the road at 3am.
Ah…
The sigh of a satisfied man.
The weekend has just finished and I’m now sat at work (that’s not the satisfying part) – but the weekend was a good one.
It was the first weekend for a while that we actually didn’t have anything particularly planned, and with the Grand Prix being early evening it meant we could do what we liked pretty much this weekend – allowing us to get some jobs done and feel like we’ve achieved something.
So the boys bedroom has now been moved around to try and make life easier, the tent on the kids climbing frame has been removed so the slide can be fitted properly and the shed now has (after 3 years) a nice new felt roof on it that looks pretty good (if I do say so myself)
To top it all off I even had a chance to catch up on some sleep on Saturday afternoon (much needed as I was so tired earlier in the week I had been fainting), started typing out some music for a new music folder I am trying to put together, and then we even managed to fit in a lovely picnic at Ferry Meadows after Church yesterday.
A lot achieved and yet it was really quite relaxing. Life is definitely… good! 🙂

When I joined facebook back in December I posted a note called “Now an atheist – what happened” (now removed) which detailed my journey from Christianity to Atheism, a place which I have sat in for about 4 1/2 years… BUT there’s been a shift and rather than just post it on facebook I thought I’d post here and then let people find it 🙂
So… “No longer an atheist” – does that mean what many think, and hope, it means. Probably, yes. Let’s take a quick flashback – cue the swirly line effects please Scooby Doo.
