Anthem for a season

For the last couple of months or so we have really started to feel a sense that God is going to shake things up this year, and that He has got some major plans for us in the next few months/year or so.

We don’t know quite what it all means or how it’s all going to happen but the sense of change is impossible to ignore and has only been reinforced by words God has spoken either to us directly or through others who have no idea what is going on right now.

That’s an important factor – we have had people coming up to us (me, Mrs H and our eldest) asking really direct questions regarding the future and plans that we may have. There has also been many words coming about through the sermon series and also from the recent 3 days of prayer and fasting.

Through all the uncertainty and the turmoil – there is complete certainty and peace. We know that God has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, to give us a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29 11:14) but even more than that promise there has been a song that has been resonating within me and filling me with such joy, peace and hope.

It’s a great song by Lincoln Brewster and Paul Baloche called “Today is the day” and I’ve included Lincolns version below (personally my choice of versions as it’s a bit livelier than the Paul Baloche version)

The song completely fits with where we’re at at the moment and for this season, and as such I have formally adopted it as our anthem for this season 🙂 It is just so perfect for times like this, and there’s been far too many “coincidences” lately for them to be anything but God-incidences.

Need more proof – here’s the lyrics, with relevant parts marked out 😉

I’m casting my cares aside,
I’m leaving my past behind
I’m setting my heart and mind on You, Jesus

I’m reaching my hand to Yours
Believing there’s so much more
Knowing that all You have in store for me is good
, is good

Today is the day You have made
I will rejoice and be glad in it
Today is the day You have made
I will rejoice and be glad in it
And I won’t worry about tomorrow
I’m trusting in what You say

Today is the day

I putting my fears aside
I’m leaving my doubts behind
I’m giving my hopes and dreams to You, Jesus

I’m reaching my hand to Yours
Believing there’s so much more
Knowing that all You have in store for me is good, is good

I will stand upon Your truth (I will stand upon Your truth)
And all my days I’ll live for You (And all my days I’ll live for You)

(OK, so they are all appropriate words but I’m sure you get the idea 😀 )

The only thing I can say really is – Your will be done Lord, Amen.
